On the basis of the data of "the Internet users’ social awareness survey", this paper examines the current status of Chinese college students’ network media literacy and its impact on life satisfaction. The research findings indicate that there are significant gender differences and educational background differences in the dimension of network media contact categories, significant educational background differences and political background differences in the dimension of network media use, significant gender differences, regional differences and educational background differences in the dimension of network information discriminating ability, and significant educational background differences in the dimension of network information creation and dissemination. Educational background, network media contact categories, and social interaction negatively affect individual life satisfaction, while political background, information acquisition, and the ability to discriminate rumors that criticize the government positively affect individual life satisfaction. |
