This study found that the overall level of teaching ability of English education senior students cultivated at independent colleges was relatively weak. There exist differences in such dimensions as English knowledge and skills, teaching cognition,teaching design, teaching operation, teaching evaluation and teaching wisdom,and there are also different levels of elements of each dimension. Suggestions for the cultivation of English education majors are made as follows: teachers should actively innovate teaching met hods, lay emphasis on enriching students' basic knowledge and sills of English ,construct scientific and reasonable course groups of English education, create more practice opportunities for students, and optimize teaching ability. |
