In modern society, armed conflicts are still active among a few countries. As a method of resolving countries' disputes in the armed conflicts, reprisals are used widely by countries concerned. Reprisal is a very complex concept and easy to be confused with other related acts of countries. Track back to the international treaties concerning the law of armed conflicts, we find that there is no permission for a country in certain circumstances to retaliate. However, international practice tells us that retaliation has become an international practice. Only by using retaliation correctly, can a country achieve its proper role and not rigger more serious conflicts between nations. |
